Ocelot as an ocelot

It's Silly Sunday, but I may have veered off into terrifying territory.
Too traumatizing not to share.

Twinbrook fix-er up-er

So.
The Miliners and I returned to Twinbrook and it was a lagging, glitchy hot mess.

I was really hoping I'd be able to survive Twinbrook for another generation or so before moving them to a new town, but...the lurching lag zombies got me.  So tragic.

In between working on the next update, I've been trying to update a new Twinbrook, so it could be pets ready.  If a split my time between updates and updating Twinbrook both projects are less likely to send me over the proverbial edge.

One of my biggest peeves about the town is that the rabbit holes take up so much space, leaving relatively little room for houses.   So, my plan is to take advantage of the multi-purpose rabbit holes and revamp the heck out of everything.  Plus, I really fancy the style of many of the Appaloosa Plains buildings, once the faux-rustic useless fences and things are stripped away.

I first used the new City Hall.   I added some landscaping and Gnubb (to try and explain that stupid crosswalk off to the side), tested it, and then deleted the military base and police station.  Good times.

I also finished the B&B revamp - lookit the widdle moggy/mongrel house!

SNWHAL: Inquiry Mordaunt

SNWHAL: Small Nose, Wearing Hat, Alien Lady

Ok, her nose isn't that small, and she's not wearing a hat.   But, um...I love her.  I do.  Just pictures are boring, so I'll put a story in.

"Umm....hello? I'm Inquiry, Inquiry Mordaunt."

in progress: Twinbrook B&B (premade remade)

Edit to add: I've just been made aware that today is International Vulture Awareness Day.

I've almost finished tagging all my screenshots.  I realized...I miss actually doing that thing...what's it called?  Oh...playing the game.

So I got inspired by Wibs & the Sims to redecorate a premade lot.   I'm basically terrible at it, but it's still fun.   It's like meditation - my brain ends up totally, peacefully, empty.

Here is the victim lucky lot, It's called Nothin' But Deck, and it can be found in Twinbrook.   I figure after 3 or 4 generations in Twinbrook, some of the houses should evolve.  I thought the large deck looked like a nice dock for entertaining on, so that is how I arrived at Sneld's Bed and Breakfast.

So far I've revamped the outside, added a second floor, and decorated the boat house.  I still need to decorate inside and add some gardens.

Awwww....rata

I like organizing all these screenshots.   And by "like" I mean it's making me a bit loony/er.   But I am finding all sorts of treasures.

Here's a little gem of Aurata "Ari" Miliner.

After this mini story arc finishes up I really don't have many plans for the family until Ari hits teenagerdom.  It pangs me, a little.

Oh!   Do you know what I found?   Dozens and dozens of pictures from a side legacy.  It turned into a prettify Twinbrook game when I realized I couldn't organize two legacies at once.   I think I will post what I have, just so it was not all for naught.  Just...not...just this second.

Today is a day for...coffee

*gasp*

I might have tea in between cups o' joe though.    I don't want to have to rename this blog or anything.

But, I really want to get those screenshots organized.   In theory, it will be very helpful.   So, say, if I want a picture of Fisher fishing in France, I'll just need to type that in.

Speaking of that, if you are a starving artist, you might want to consider signing up as a substitute teacher/ teacher's aide/ paraprofessional / secretary.   Not for the money (hahahaha, no.) but for the 80% Adobe discount.   That's better then money, because it's art supplies.

Even President Nixon took a break from meowing to yawn and doze a little.   I think he can meow yodel in his sleep though, so that's alrigh' then.

We had awesome weather last night - as in inspired awe.   I was sure the rain was hail, but no, it was just raining like it was serious business.

This post is boring and not caffeinated enough.   Let me see if I can rustle up something entertaining from the screen shot depths.

Here's Cho, out shopping for future Miliners to "innocently invite" to "just a house party, no real reason."  This one isn't bad, but a bit too old for any of the grandkids.  Also, she clearly is suspicious of the force of nature behind her.

Mysterious Sim Explores Mysterious Glendalough

Wish the Miliner house looked more like this.  *sigh*
My, what a mysterious stranger.   Who could she be?   *waves hands around mysteriously*

I posted about Glendalough earlier.   While I do have one (or more) custom towns that I've kidnapped and am in the middle of restructuring for the Miliners, I haven't had time to damage Glendalough yet.   So.  Picspam.

Mwaha, etc.
Oooh...moody.   Is that a wild Mary Shelley novel in the distance?

sim file: Kippe Malifa

I have a confession.   I don't think I've ever successfully played a pre-made family to the point where the adults had grandchildren.

Until now!

And I cheated because I edited the parents in CAS so they would look less cartoon like.  But it's the sims 3, world of cartoon features, so you forgive me, right?

Though it's ok if you don't forgive me for it being the Malifa family in Barnacle Bay.   I know!  It was gifted to me (thank you!).   And now that I've played it I think it is, possibly, worth money.   Twenty dollars? No, less than half that.   But, despite the hype about the attractive (whyyyy do they have such big eyeballs??  why??) sims in Bridgeport, Barnacle Bay has some of the cutest.   Ignore Nina and Dina, who are not cute, and focus on the positive - the Annan family.  Who I did not play.

And I certainly don't come out of the Barnacle Bay experience thinking, "Hmmm...by golly! I can't wait to spend money on the next one!"  (Plus, green people who are not aliens or zombies?  Way to ruin the next "surprising" twist in my legacy, you nutters.)

And now that I've filled you with compelling and contradictory emotions, we meander to the point.

Anyway, I started up my first ever Barnacle Bay game to test out Generations, and I got attached.   I think the youngest child is by far the prettiest, and different from most other sims I've seen.  So I am sharing her genetics with you!  Take that, whatever the sim equivalent of Monsanto is!

Prankster.
She's currently a teen in my game, but this is the YA file.  I've done my best to make sure all outfits are appropriate for YA, to avoid glitchiness.  Rather then make a large CC list, I took off most makeup, and stuck her in base game and Generations hair and clothes.   Default skin in pictures is by Ephemera.

CiJ

Apparently sharing the gift pictures of the Christmas in July items is not taboo, as I feared.

So I will post them!  I'll still let my secret santee decide if she wants to share the download link, or not.   The event is still going on, after all.

I think CiJ filled me with anxiety, but...maybe I can get some helpful feedback on the items.

A sim, tried to go with the vintage Star Trek look.

view it in a room...!

Ok, the posters were out of my comfort zone.   Custom mesh with different paintings in the same file ... I know the tutorial said it should be easy.   But I was so unfamiliar with the program I re-made it about 6 different times.   I was happy with them at the time, now I'm really not.   Also, painting the backgrounds made me want to make custom walls, and I don't need any more projects.

I didn't realize how much stuff the sims 2 people were going to make for gifts!  I feel bad.   I thought the send date was the date we should aim for, and the extra week and a half was for emergencies, just in case something borked.

So...that is what ate up most of my creative time over the 2 weeks!   It looks like hardly anything!

Today's Disconcerting Experience

Step 1: Play the sims for a bit.  Do some gardening and collect some metals and try to harvest a mate from the local townies, if it's getting to be time for the next generation in the game.

Step 2: Switch to playing Animal Crossing: Wild World.

My brain now sees older sims as Blathers, the owl in the museum.   And associates Tom Nook with the Born Salesman trait.

I'm sure it will only get weirder with the addition of Pets.

Hoo! Indeed, woo hoo!

Try it.   See if the two games don't start to merge.

Though, I think I might like gardening in Animal Crossing better, because you can get hybrid flowers.  The sims is a life simulation game, you would think they would have put hybridizing in the sandbox as well.

Awww! ♥

I knew I was focusing on art and CC and PT and trying to relearn all the drawing skills that I now feel like I've lost, but I didn't think I'd totally lost focus on other things that matter.   But no! I am a distract-able mess.   I've missed several updates of Chimera, and I'm sure other stories as well.   I will have to focus and hunt them down. :)

Also, Seaweedy found my story and added me to his Today in the World of Sim Stories.

Ok, I love that synopses so much I got a bit weepy eyed.

My tattoo set also ended up on MS3B.  I appreciate the huge amount of work that must go into maintaining a blog with that many daily updates, but honestly after reading troll comments before seeing my tattoos took all the fun out of it.  Which stinks.

But! Now that I've slept on it I don't think that making tattoos designed to work well with others was that stupid of an idea.   If other people start to make them I would be thrilled out of my gourd.   Plus, for whatever reason there are not many translucent, shaded, or 4-color tattoos out there.   I don't know why that is, it's not hard. If I can do it, when trying to learn new programs feels like getting poked in the eyeball with a migraine, then surely most people can.  I am basically a lunatic with art programs and access to the internet, but I'm a friendly lunatic and am happy to either answer questions or...admit to not knowing the answers.

Ok, back to taking pictures for the next update.  Oh and reading stories.   And working on projects.

Monday, July 4, 2011

Well, that's taking longer then expected.

So...I decided to kidnap an EA house and convert it to a crazy hodge podge house.  I thought to myself, "Self, you've acquired a ludicrous amount of projects, are you sure this is a good idea?"
"But I neeeeed it, for the comic *whine whine whine whine*"
"D:<"
"Besides, it won't take long! I'm just plopping some hideousness on an EA house, most of the work is done for me."

So the Little Roses Townhouse was selected for abuse, due to it being adorable and on a relatively small lot size (I think 20 x 20?).

I think I'm 5 hours in and I've finished one room.  Well, two if you count the perfectly ordinary and boring laundry room.   Three if you count tossing a bathroom and an inventors station into the garage as a room.  Hey...this is starting to sound not so fail.

*confetti*

ALSO, if today is a Day of Fireworks then I hope you enjoy the heck out if it.  And if not, then be happy you're not surrounded by drunk Americans? :D  Have a good one, either way.

Octocat, you require more study.

How is it that you can open jars containing food, while you are also innocently sleeping in the other room?

Well well... enjoy your stay in....OCTOJAILHABITAT.

(Also, I now totally love the fog emitters)

:O Ok EA, you win this round

My legacy/webcomic will now go:

"But then it all turned out to be an OctoCat, and everyone lived happily ever after, until they died.  The End."

Poida Launched Men Without Hats into my Brainmeats

Poida launched his new story :)
Yes!

But then when I sat down to work some more on the next comic I 1)felt like my head was a bid naked and 2)kept singing the Safety Dance.

So then to counteract it I watched this video (if this doesn't make you respond to most questions with "We are the robots" then there is just no hope for you) then this video (check out the thing at 0:39), then this video, and then for a dose of extra catchy happy I watched this one:

In conclusion: Making comics is hard work.   Also, who else is thinking it would be great to make a sim band with a uniform of orange button down shirts?
